PCDC stands for phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate. Deoxycholate breaks down the outer wall of fat cells, and phosphatidylcholine helps the body process and carry away the released fat. Injected into a targeted fat pocket, the blend shrinks that area gradually as your lymphatic system clears the treated cells over the following weeks.
PCDC is meant for contouring, not weight loss. It works best on small, pinchable fat pockets in people near their goal weight. Larger areas such as the stomach can be treated in a grid across several sessions. At your free consultation we examine the area, check that the concern is fat rather than loose skin, and review your health history and medications. We explain how many sessions to expect for that area. Before treatment, avoid blood thinners and alcohol where your doctor allows, eat a light meal and wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area.
Changes are gradual. Most people start to notice a difference about four to six weeks after a session, as swelling settles and the treated fat is cleared. Small areas often need two to four sessions, and larger areas may need more. Treated fat cells do not come back, but the remaining cells can still grow with weight gain, so a stable weight keeps your result.
PCDC and Kybella both use deoxycholate to break down fat cells, but they are not the same treatment. Kybella is an FDA-approved product for fat under the chin only. PCDC is a compounded blend made by a pharmacy and is not FDA-approved, which is why your consultation covers its benefits and limits honestly. Liposuction removes more fat at once but needs surgery and downtime; PCDC is done in the office with little downtime.
